Antique Shops

At this point this page is not intended as a full listing of Antique Shops – that’s available in the “Collect Ireland” guidebook – but rather a highlighting of interesting shops that I come across. If you’re the owner of such a shop why not drop me an email at collectireland@gmail.com and we can go from there. As usual the listings will be in alphabetical order by county.

County Kilkenny

Eclectic Interiors,

Castlecomer Estate Yard, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny

(north of Castlecomer on the N78 Dublin/Kilkenny road)

Website: http://www.eclecticinteriors.net/

Contact: selinagittins@gmail.com

Eclectic Interiors is situated in a beautifully restored stone farm building in The Art and Craft Yard of The Discovery Park in Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny.

It is run by Selina Gittins, who restores, paints and renovates antique country furniture. Finished pieces are displayed with smaller vintage curios, alongside contemporary pendant lightshades, in an eclectic mix of contemporary country style.

Eclectic Interiors also provide a service painting/customising clients furniture; so if you have an old inherited piece that could be up-dated or something that you like the shape of but not the finish – too dark or too “pine” or damaged in some way- then it could be given a new lease of life with some of the paint colours used in the shop.

Shop opening hours:-

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 10.00am to 5.30pm.

Saturday from 10.00am to 5.30pm.

Sunday from 2.00pm to 5.30pm.

CLOSED Mondays & Tuesdays.

Darcy & Ralph Antiques,

Rose Inn Street, Kilkenny City

As so often happens I spotted this rather nice You Tube video for Darcy & Ralph Antiques while looking for something completely different. It’s nice and sharp and gives a very clear idea of the sort of goodies that they stock; some of the grander Antique dealers could take a leaf out of their book! It certainly has made me add them to my list of places to visit next time I’m in the area.
